Today has been quite rainy which isn’t nessisarily a bad thing. I have been able to see some of the water retention earthworks in action.
The swales are catching the water perfectly. The lake at the bottom of the hill is not there this time around. The rain barrel overflow was oh so close to being used. I swear Mother Nature is playing with me.
The overflow here is a simple concept it simply flows through the tube when the water reaches the pipe. It then goes out into the swale. This keeps it from overflowing next to the barn foundation.
I also got a better picture of why things seemed to do so bad last year. The giant tree at the edge of the garden had rooted right into the garden box.
Needless to say it won’t be doing that this year.
Until next time…
