The reality is starting to set in now. I’ve got two days left and the phone will ring. I’ll then need to go get six little blobs of feathers and work my butt off to learn about them and keep them alive.
No pressure though, I’ve got this. The heat lamp is already here, as are the feeders, feed, bedding, and we have a coop. The last piece here is a brooder. I am still on the fence as to whether I want to go the plastic tote route, or build something. Time on one hand, money on the other.
The options are:
It always teems to catch on time and money. They are two of the largest problems that we face here from day to day.
I’ve ruled out the plastic totes at this point, because I know for a fact as soon as I put shavings in them they will be needed for something. Especially with camping season upon us. With that critical decision out of the way I’m off to the lumber store for a few items to make this work.
I ended up with the wood I need, screws, and some hinges for a top. In order to do this though I had to use the last bit of time I had. By the time this brooder gets started I guess I will be down to 24 hours.
Until next time…
